anyone see the motor week show thist morining? there were talking about ZDDP today and recommended Valvoline VR1.
 
Yes i seen it this morning.I believe the engineer from Valvoline said there is sufficent zddp in all their oils for all engines that have been broken in. But he said newly rebuilt engines with flat tappets the VR1 would be recommended,because it had the same amount of zddp as was in the oils of the 70's!
 
I'd bet it's just a matter of time before the formula changes on that oil too.
 
That must be the engineer's opinion, not fact because I don't know of any of the Valvo's that have enough ZDDP other than maybe the VR1 Racing, non-street legal use oil & it is non-detergent oil, not really recommended for street use. Pick your favorite brand & use ZDDP Plus.
