    Th400?

    400 plus sbc in 84 Regal If you have the sbc you could put a 350t in there as you may have the gears for it. You will need crossmember, but, the drive shaft will work, shifter will work as it is now set up for three gears. One thing to known is the 700r4 does not fit the transmission tunnel...

    Since you don't need the cat a straight pipe would work. As to what make, it depends on what is available in UK. Any G body type would fit, chevy, pontiac, I would get one in 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" with the mufflers under the backseats. in UK it maybe easier to have one made up. Diver

    postons 400 switch pitch

    400 s/p trans. I have one in a 66 GS behind a 401, I have 2.92 posi gears in the back. To use the s/p you need tall gears, some where in the high 2.00's, that way you have a s/p 1st gear to get started. Remember the 400 uses HP to operate. Diver

    Trans 3 or 4 You didn't say what year it was. Most cars were designed to give the best gas mileage in the late 70' early 80's as we had gas problem then. A 82 Regal had a 350C with 2.41 ratio. It would take along time to get up to speed. You would be right about having to much gear as you could...
