I have a 2.3 Ford circle track car with a 460 lift cam and are having some trouble with the carb tuning.

My LM - 1 shows 10.2 to 1 @ 6500 rpm. Too rich.

Changed the power valve in the Holley 350 cfm carb from a 8.5 to a 4.5 and now it seems to be bogging. I thought it would go leaner but the a/f stayed the same.

Also the squirters on top seem to be just dumping fuel like crazy.

Now I'm lost.

Start with the float level (fuel level in the fuel bowl) and needle/seat assembly (fuel inlet). HTH.

The power valve change you made is not like changing jets. You changed the Manifold pressure where the powervalve becomes effective. I'd put the original powervalve back in and go leaner on the main jets.

I'd be targeting AFR at 12.0:1

Lowering fuel level on a circle track engine is playing with dynamite. Uncover the main jets in a turn and the engine will melt a piston.

Thanks for the help.

I check and adjusted the float level.

Also changed from 61 jets to 55.

Still have a slight sputter at 2500-3500 rpm. Adjusted the bolt/spring thing on the bowl in front of the linkage and the bog seems to be better but is still there.

The wideband looks like its way lean a long way in the rpm but then goes fat up top.
