How do I change 2-3 shift timing only

In order to increase only the 2-3 shift you will need to increase the spring tension on the 2-3 shift valve spring. I used to know the formula to calculate how much MPH a certain increase in tension would produce, but I can't remember. A very slight increase in spring tension will raise the...

    Overrun pressure test question

I stand corrected on the sealing ring. Chris is absolutely correct about the overrun housing bushing being a pain in the butt to replace.

    Overrun pressure test question

Just make sure the sealing rings on the input shaft are OK. The solid ring goes into the overrun clutch housing. Replace the bushing in the overrun housing also. If you want a firmer converter clutch engagement you can remove the check ball and capsule.

    200R4 Help ASAP Please

Is the TCI valve body plate red? Are you installing a Trans-Scat kit # 386000? If the plate is red the holes are not drilled. With whom did you talk with at TCI? Thanks, Bob

700r4 burned up a bearing, how much of a rebuild needed?

You definitely need to remove the l/r piston and clean the case very well. I would disassemble everything and clean all the parts. Check the pump bushing and replace the pump seal. Most importantly clean your transmission cooler or bypass it with a new auxiliary cooler or this might happen again.

    200R4 Help ASAP Please

The hole sizes are not critical. The tcc signal hole only needs to feed the tcc valve in the pump cover as I stated before. A 1/16" hole will supply plenty of oil to the tcc valve. Drilling the 1-2 accumulator hole only 1/16" will make the shift firmer with out being too harsh. Drilling the...

    200R4 Help ASAP Please

That valve body plate does not have the hole pre-drilled for the 1-2 accumulator either. So, if you don't drill the hole you can leave the piston and spring out. I would suggest leaving the spring and piston in, so they won't get lost just in case the 1-2 shift is too rough for you. You can...

    200R4 Help ASAP Please

Is the hole you are referring to the tcc signal hole or the 1-2 accumulator hole? Well, 1/16" will work for either hole. The tcc signal feeds the tcc valve in the pump cover. If you wish to leave the 1-2 accumulator functional, leave the piston and spring in the housing and drill the 1/16" hole...

    input drum

Yes, you can press out the the shaft and install it into another housing. There is a master spline which must be lined up correctly. Be sure to support the inside of the housing when pressing the shaft into it or you will break the center out of the housing. Sonnax sells the support ring and...

    Pump noise causing knock?

We've experienced some rebuilt pumps which produced a knocking noise. The cause was an off center condition of the drive gear in relation to the crest. All pumps work anytime the engine is running, with the exception of a rear pump.
