My friend's 87 blew the gasket on the bottom of the turbo. After replacing it the car has no boost. It feels very restricted. The cat appears to have a hole and sounds like a tea kettle. Has this happened to anyone? Can the cat be the problem? I appreciate the feedback.
So I recently picked up an American Racing Solutions belt tensioner and new oem-style pulley. I noticed that the bearing in the pulley fits a bit sloppy on the belt tensioner. Is this normal? It doesn't seem right. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Rick, I had the original ignition module. I tried a friends Delco as well. Perhaps they were both bad. The car would run and idle fine but the problem always occurred under boost.
So I finally fixed the problem after several unsuccessful attempts. I started with the plugs and various gaps. I tried wires and different coil packs. I ended up installing the TR6 and problem solved. The car has never ran better. Thanks to all of you for all the helpful information.
I'll try new plugs with less gap first. It could be the stock restrictive muffler as well. It seems more ignition related though. It's much harder to start in the morning than it ever was.
I have been trying to figure out why I can't build more than about 10 lbs. of boost before it backfires/sputters through the intake and looses pressure. It doesn't throw any codes either–all parameters look good. When I did the E85 conversion and turned up the boost, the car ran great the first...
I don't think it's head gasket which is a good thing. However, I was told it could be related to worn original valve springs. I plan to change these out soon.
My stock 86 GN sat for over 10 years before I got it. The valve springs have never been replaced. I plan to do this very soon as I believe they are the root of another issue I'm having. Lately I have noticed a little bit of lifter noise on the driver side, a slight click clack. Will changing the...
I bought this from fullthrottlespeed.com about a month before I decided to convert to e85. I ended up getting a new unit with AN fittings. Like I said, I only had this in my car for a month. Make me an offer.
