If I'm not mistaken you will also need the rear quarter trim. They mount under the lip of the rear quarter next to the trunk lid on both sides. I have them for sure and will check if i have the luxury lemans chrome trim. Do you know if your dads car came with the rear wheel skirts??

Well, I'm finshing my 1 year frame off resto of a 87 GN to 87 GNX. Now the tricky part is to remount all the panels with out scratching the edges of the doors and fenders. I found by just removing the fender with the wheel well on that it save me alot of time and bloodly knuckles. I could not get at those screws/bolts that you are talking about. Good Luck

Took mine to a professional trim shop and had it done for $20.00 bucks. It looks great, check it out it might be worth going that route.
