    My letter to poston

I bought a transmission kit from them this summer for my '87 GN. Turned out the tranny was totally shot, so I bought a low-mile unit from a guy here in Texas. I had lost my receipt for about two months or so, but when I found it I sent the stuff back to Poston (uninstalled) with a little note...

    Non-GN CarFax request (pretty please)

My CarFax has expired since I bought my GN, am now looking at a '91 300ZX twin turbo as a daily driver. If possible could someone run a CarFax for me? Thanks!! Jeff JN1CZ24H9MX500785

    PowerMaster pressure switch leak

At first I thought it might be the rubber gasket, but it is definitely the switch. The brake warning light comes on when you first press the brake pedal, then once the pressure builds past the leak the light goes out and the powermaster kicks in like it should. Kind of bad during panic stops...

    PowerMaster pressure switch leak

My PowerMaster has a slight leak where the pressure switch screws into the Master Cylinder. The result is that a little fluid/pressure is lost when the pedal is first pressed, resulting in a no-power brake situation for the first few seconds until the pressure builds up, despite the leak. I'd...

    Replacing Stock Injectors...

I have to agree...if the smoke at startup is bluish this is valve guide seals, not injectors. Are you losing fuel pressure when the vehicle sits after not running? This could also be an indicator of leaky injectors... Racetronix...what do you charge for you injector service? I have what I...

ENGINE GURUS: Need advice with diagnosis of excessive valvetrain noise(!)...

I have Comp lifters in my '76 Chevy 454, and in a friends' '67 Pontiac 400. They just seem to be noisy with Xtreme Energy Cams....I dunno, just thought I'd mention it. I've been meaning to call them and see what's up... Jeff

    code 32 EGR??

Had a similar problem, it was the EGR solenoid...replaced it ($50 part) and haven't had the code since. If you EGR valve moves OK by hand I would suspect the solenoid next. Jeff

Possibly Stolen GN/ or just Clone???

Could also be like mine...a real GN which was stolen and reVINed as a non-TR so it could be driven/owned illegally without drawing attention from the state. Jeff

Used TR parts dealer in Houston area?

If I decide to keep my '87 GN (starting to look like I might) I will be needing a few items that I would prefer to buy used locally rather than mail order new stuff. Is there a good supplier who parts cars out, or has used parts in the area? I have found a couple over the years for my...

    Compression worries

Just checked my '87 with 116K miles last month, 138-142 on all six cylinders. I think something is wrong with your #4, if the oil helped it is most likely a ring issue on that cylinder and the oil helps seal the gap during the test. Are you using much oil or seeing blow-by? Jeff

Is the GN rear suspension/rearend the same as other G-bodies

Thanks for the good info... The main reason I suspect the rear end is because of the yellow junkyard paint on the housing. You know the stuff they use to mark parts at the junkyard, I think there's a date on it or something, haven't looked at it in quite awhile. I'm finally able to spend more...
