What’s a creative place for a catch can?

Here’s the link to how I did mine. One for PCV and a smaller one for the valve cover breathers. https://turbobuick.com/threads/motion-raceworks-2-stage-air-oil-separator.485156/

    Fuel Pump turn on

If you’re just wanting to run the fuel pump to check for leaks there is a fuel pump ‘test’ connector by the alternator. (Assuming you have an 86/87) There are two ‘open’ connectors by the alternator. The green one is a tach signal the other black connector will run the fuel pump if you put...

    Oil catch can

No replies yet, so I'll chime in. Mine is for an 87 GN. Different, but the concepts are the same. First thing is, what are you wanting to do? On a race car, the catch cans collect oil that vents out of the crankcase and valve covers when under load/boost. This is necessary due to blow by...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

The PCV upgrades seemed to have fixed the high idle BLM issue. Still need to put some more miles on it before I know for sure. Here’s a few pics after I cleaned up the driver’s side valve cover connection. Both valve covers are teed together before the catch can, then connected to the MAF pipe.

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

It’s actually Snow Performance Boost Juice….a step above washer fluid, but not by much. it’s mostly a street car and I don’t like a plastic jug of straight methanol under the hood when I’m just cruising around. The 50/50 mix is still good for detonation control. I do add a yellow container of...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

Just posted a YouTube video showing the Pcv upgrades I made.

    Bouncy 02 volts

The O2 millivolts will stabilize more at WOT. They're always moving at idle. As a matter of fact, if they're stable at idle it tells you that you have a bad / lazy O2 sensor.

    Bouncy 02 volts

I agree. Looks normal for a stock narrow band O2 sensor at idle / part throttle. They are basically switches that go from rich to lean to rich to lean as the computer adjusts fuel injector pulse width to get the target air/fuel ratio. You need a wide band 02 setup to really be able to tune...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

Looks good Pronto. I’m taking fresh air from MAF pipe thru oil separator can to the passenger valve cover. If VC goes positive or enough negative pressure in MAF pipe under boost the can will help separate the oil out. It sounds like the Mighty Mouse can is similar to the Motion can I used on...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

Update with some picture. Driver’s side valve cover now has 10AN hose going to check valve and filter/vent. The check valve allows pressure to escape but blocks airflow back into the valve cover/crankcase. I mounted a closed/flow thru separator can for the ‘clean air’ side of the Pcv system...

Connector question - New guy 1st post

The green one is for a tach signal. I've never use it. But the black one will run your fuel pump if you put 12v to it. I've used it to test the fuel pump / rails / fuel pressure gauge / etc for leaks. Unplug the under hood light above the brake booser and plug that wire into the black plug...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

You got me thinking about that Pronto. The stock PCV may not flow enough at full boost. I think I’m going to vent the driver’s side valve cover with the check valve to prevent sucking in at idle/cruise but allow it to blow out when needed. I’ll use the old filter vent at the end of the hose...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

PCV in the bottom of the intake manifold is routed thru the air/oil separator can then back to the vacuum block on top of the intake dog house. Vacuum pulls thru the stock Pcv valve. Separator can removes the vapor before it goes into the vacuum block.

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

The valve cover port on the passenger side is going to the MAF inlet tube. The air/oil separator catch can is between the Pcv valve under the intake and the vacuum block on top. This is a street car…cruise nights etc. I wanted a system that will keep the oil clean when putting on street...

Motion Raceworks 2 Stage Air/Oil Separator?

Update on the ‘clean air’ side of the Pcv. I’m using the original passenger side valve cover breather and running AN10 fittings and 5/8 hose to the elbow right after the MAF. Still need to mount the elbow and check valve to the MAF end of the hose. Check valve will prevent flow from VC back...
