My wastegate selinoid/actuater has a single vac line comming out of it but I have an extra turbo/wastegate with one that has 2 vac lines. Why is this? Why were 2 different ones produced? What is the advantage of one over the other? Thanks,
Steve

you're kinda talking about two different things here.

are you asking why one wastegate has 2 vac ports and one has one?

hotair wastegates have 2 vac ports, IC cars have one. there is no real preference.... they both work the same

OK now I am confused even more:confused: . They are both hot air turbos but one has a single vacuum port (this is on the adjustable wastegate accuator where as the other turbo has a double vacuum port on the adjustable wastegate accuator. (Its possible that I am calling that part by the wrong name)

can you take a pic? i'm sure the single port one is just a newer actuator... there is no real point to have two ports on there and thats one less vacuum line to fall off. the one on the rear "side" of the diaphragm is just a "helper" line that supplies vacuum to help the pressure side open the wastegate.

My stock 84/85 wastegate actuator has two ports, I installed a new actuator (I didn't know cond. of original-so I replaced with new) and it only has one port (like the '87) and it works just the same as the original.

Seems that my spare turbo has the original two port and the one on my 84 GN has been replaced with the single port. Mystery solved...;)
