Hi, I'm new here! I have a question regarding rim size, hoping you guys can help me out. My wife has an '84 Buick Regal currently using 28x10.5 MT et drags on Weld 15x8 rims with 3.5 bs and was hoping to use a 10 inch wide rim with this tire to get a larger footprint. I was hoping to use this rim without notching the frame. If anyone has any info on this or pics it would be helpful. Thanks!

To keep the tire in the wheel well, you'd have to notch the frame with a 15x10.

My combo:
- 15x10 Centerlines with 5" backspacing.
- Mickey Thompson ET Drag 28x10.50x15 (or 325/50 drag radials for street)
- Frame notch.

Pictures here (of the 325/50 street tires on the same wheel):

I believe a 10" tire will fit without frame mods if you are willing to play around with brakes, rearend widths and not go crazy on the tire size. If the rear is centered, your 10.5 should fit. I have 17 X 9.5" rears and they have 3/4" on both sides of a BFG KD 275/40/17. You might have to trim the sheetmetal on the inner, upper lip of the wheel arch, but there is some material there to play with.

My rearend is a Moser 12-bolt cut to standard G-body width, with 12.2" Wilwood rear discs. This setup required 4.5" bs. I think 3.5" would stick out an/or rub badly with any tire width and height on there.

I have had 15x10 rims on a GN with no knotching or rubbing. 15x10 rim, 275/50R15 (26x10.5-15 slick works too) tire and 4.5" back spacing. It will not fit with a tire taller than 26". HTH

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up going with a 3/4 inch notch in the frame rails and used a Weld Pro Star 15x10 with a 4 1/2 back space. Here's a pic!

Thanks for the compliments! My wife ran a 9.76 at Atco a few weeks ago. Yes, she was as E-Town last week starting her license passes!

I figured when she was lifting she must have been taking license passes.
Wish I knew, I would have been happy to sign her application, who knows
It might have been like when Don Garlits signed for shirley muldowney!!

Okay you turbo lovers, don't hate us! My wife has a naturally aspirated 434 small block Chevy under the hood!

Gotta love the 434's. I had one back in the early 90's when no one knew you could make them that big! ;) Now they are the norm for small blocks!!

You can look on G Body parts.com- he has a couple examples of a 10" rim and 4.5 backspacing on his site.
