100LL Fuel

For those in south east Michigan (Oakland County area) you can get 100LL avgas from Pontiac Air Center which is on Airport Rd, just south of Tubbs Rd. for $5.38 a gallon. The more they sell the happier they are.

Just bring your red gas cans and tell'em you're getting gas for a float plane. Pentastar (formerly Pentastar) will also sell it to those with gas cans for those who have float planes, unfortunately it's $0.40 more a gallon.

The fuelers tell me the octane rating is closer to 110LL....

The low lead name is a misnomer. Av Gas has a very high lead content. The Low Lead name means is has less lead than the typical 100 octane Aviation fuel.

we run 110/130 full lead avgas love the stuff you do get lead buildup though we have one part of the quench pad on every cylinder that has a 0.030" thick buildup after 5 years of mostly pure avgas use.its hard to make the stuff ping we were holding 21psi 4000rpm and 13.3:1 fueling on the dyno was just about to start detonating

So now because of that, are you comitted to high cylinder pressures to take advantage of that gas now? If not, what happens when you're not in boost, are you "over octaned" now? Are you suffering from all the bad side effects of too much octane? I'd like to try a little of that in the tank.

No effects of lots of octane. We run 8:1 comp 21psi and 14 degrees timing was enough for 450rwhp and 10.80s on the 1/4 .have had boost at 35 on the same timing with no extra fuel when the boost controller jammed and we free boosted no knock lol .

We then lost the map signal when the hose blew off at 30psi at half track and blew cylinder 1 headgasket not surprising when 2/3rds of the fueling instantly disappears lol.time for another $13 gasket or 2 and the max ported iron heads to go on
