My car leaks a little oil on the ground, no big deal. Since I bought the car not too long ago, I went ahead and changed the oil to Mobil1 Super Synthetic 15-50 (Performance Driving Formula). The car has over 100,000 miles and drives pretty good. I do drive it a bit hard from time to time. This oil is specially formulated for TURBO & Superchargers. Anyone else running this oil? I'm probably going to get some negative feedback, maybe saying that this is not recomended for our cars but I want to hear your opinions. Thanks.

Hey TType84 , how are you ? Did you get your car up and running again from the last incident with the thieves?

I used to run it. Target had it for $1.89 a quart. It had to be a mistake but me and a friend bought gallons of that stuff before they bumped the price up. I completely filled up my trunk one day. I guess they caught on because between the two of us we cleaned them out almost every other day.

The only thing I would be concerned with is leaks. My car already had a front main leak and when I switched it got noticable worse. Other than that, it's great oil.

same thing i usually run.

i just changed the oil in my plymouth to mobil one 0w-40.i used to run the 15w-50 in it also.not much difference in warm pressure and it sure comes up quick.

i think i'm gonna try it in the buick too.

I know we use synthetic in the 87, not so much in the 85, went with hd-30. Engine builder recommended it and we just haven't ran synthetic in it. Started with the Mobile, then went to Valoline , easier to find. Seemed to work just fine. Heck I use synth blend in the daily driver for that little extra...

Not really worse leak, synthetic isn't as thick as the regular stuff you just noticed more because of the synthetic. Reason I know this until we fixed the rear main same thing happened. You can fix this usually while still in the car, there's a link on www.gnttype.com, and we have done it.

HaHaHaaaa! :D :D :D , that is funny, Im jealous!

Seriously, that stuff is all good. I even notice oil pressure at idle staying up a bit more when I use it. Sometimes Walmart has a 5qt jug for about $18 of the stuff. They have become so unreliable about what they stock that I never know when they are going to have it anymore.

A friend of mine who is an automotive guru explained it to me as, on an older car stuff has gummed up around seals from the inside, sometimes leting them dry out, keeping an oil seal or gasket which normally would leak from leaking. Synthetic stays so "new" it can wash this out springing up leaks all over an older engine. I use walmart generic synthetic (about $1.50 a quart or so) in all my vehicles. Just my 2 cents :p

The more I think about it, it was the motor that came in the car that was leaking, not my second one. You'll never believe this but that motor had a pretty bad rear main leak. When the rod knock got so bad I had to pull it, I discovered it had NO REAR MAIN SEAL. I couldn't believe it. Nothing, no a trace of a seal, like someone completely forgot it. The mobile 1 made it worse but it didn't leak as bad as you would think for no seal. My car is a POS.

I used to use that weight. When I first bought my T, i changed out the oil for Mobil [1] syn 10w30. previous oil was dirty an I knew it would add a little tint to the new oil. I changed it out 1500 miles after and the oil was somewhat dark due to the previous oil. Mobil [1] syn 10w30 again. I ran it in the car for about 3500 miles and changed it out. Damn the oil was black as the old oil i first changed out. So I changed it and put in the Mobil [1] 15w50...ran it around for 3k and the oil was still tainted in color but not as bad as the 10w30. I was seriously thinking I was getting some mean blowby  then I made a friend who works Red Line and bought some syn 5w30. purdy cheap too :D 'bout 6.39 to their 11.99 retail. I ran it for 3k again...oil was tainted from the previous oul and changed it out once more after 3k miles again. the oil was clean as the day i poured it in! then I extened it to 4k...it was still carmel clean :D. Now I swear by Red Line. I hear Amsoil is just as good, if not...better? something about the 4 bearing test makes or breaks the oil. And Amsoil came out on top. For the life of my I cant find an Amsoil distributor here in Hawaii...I'm just too laid back to even try. :p
