15x7 wheels

Hi Guys,

I have a set of TA snowflake wheels that are on my 87 GN...the rubber on these is pretty shot, and I'm looking at buying BF Goodrich Radial TA's..

How wide of a tire can I go on the back? I'm told the wheels have 4" backspacing...I've done some research on here and really can't find much on a wider tire (like a 255) on a 15x7 wheel with 4" backspacing. Can someone help me out?

i had a shop squeeze 285's on 8 inch rims but was on a Mustang ...not sure that helps?

I hope your not comparing a Mustang to a Grand National blasphemy!

I currently have 215//75/15's on the car....and they are pretty close, but I get lost when it comes to tire sizes.

Was wondering if something along the lines of a 255/60/15 would work?

i prefer the 50's series myself.
would a tire calculator help? if so there is a few of them, google as needed. here's one?

On a 7" rim the largest you would want to go is a 255x60x15 my friend just bought firehawks and loves them 235x60x15 in front.
