16x9 rear rims with 275/50/16 tires clear?

Thinking of getting some 16x9 rear rims w 3.5" BS with some 275/50/16 tires on them, any clearance problems?

I may be stuck with 15X9 rims though if they can't custom make some. I don't know why AR wheels only come in 15 and 17" configurations except for the TTII rims....

4.5" BS would work better than 3.5" with a 9" rim.

With 3.5" you will need the lip rolled.

With 4.5", if you don't have enough frame clearance, you can slip in a small spacer until you do.

I measured the stock rims and they are 3.75" BS if measuring from the rim lip where the tire bead mounts, if from the rim edge its exactly 4" but I didn't think that was the correct way to measure it, even though gnttype.org says the BS is 4" for stck rims, and the 275/50 s already rub just a bit, wouldn't more BS cause them to rub even more? But I guess with the wider rim, the sidewall wouldn't protrude out as much...right now the sidewall sticks out 1 full inch further than the rim edge, and I have about 1.5" that it could be moved out before it hits the fender lip.
I may go with a 8.5" wide rim imstead.

I think only Goodrich makes that size tire. I bought a set of 295-50-16s and mounted them on my IROCs. Unless you're looking for the big tire look in the back, you'll find they are practically tractionless.

wow, I didn't realize the 16" tire size was so limited, in all my catalogs, the widest I can find is 255...screw that, I guess I'll stick with 15" rims.... Now, back to the Backspacing, I'm a little scared to go with 4.5" BS after measuring around on the car/wheels. There's no "clear" defined way that the stock wheel BS was measured as mentioned above, I measure it as 3.75" and not 4" as advertized, its 4" only if going to the outer most point on the rim edge, which is not supposed to be the way its measured.

I'd think 4" to the tire beed would be the max BS just by looking at my car.

That diagram doesn't show BS as being measured from either the outermost extending part of the rim or the surface of the lip the tire bead mounts/touches...it shows it as just the distance from the hub surface to the frame, such as max backspacing, but does not account for tire buldge over the rim width.

It would make sense that it is only measured from the rim lip surface the tire bead seats up to because the rim lip could extend way past that point but since the tire is mounted to the rim lip inside surface, it does not matter how for the rim lip exterior extends.

Cool, that one explains it. I was thinking it was measured to where that line is for the rim width...guess not. That's why the GN is 4" as that is exactly what I measured at using the outside most extended edge.
