hello every one, this is my first day as a member. i have a 79 turbo regal that is my project car. it has a 4 barrell carb. what are some small adjustments that i can do to make it run faster? thanks

welcome to the board! Your turbo buick addiction has just begun:rolleyes:
Not kidding. There are lots of things you can do to get more power. I will start you off but you will most likely have better luck in the before black forum and the b4black website. You will have to be creative to step up the performance but the recipe is pretty much the same as the rest of them, except you have a carb adn a draw thru setup. I had a 79, they're cool. Please post some pics. Where's your location?

79 is a good year to start with. Not the best, but good. Start with maintinence, it is the MOST important. If your car isn't up to par, you are beating a dead horse.

RUN PREMIUM FUEL at all times!!!! Cant stress this enough
FULL tune up:ac delco plugs gapped at .035, some name brand wires, not cheapo house brand, fuel filter, carb cleaner, check ALL vac hoses, check for ALL exhaust leaks, change oil with ac delco pf52 filter, change trans filter, change rear end fluid and put in a 160 thermostat. Adjustand clean rear brakes to appropriate level. Replace stock air box with K&N cone, the b4black website has a how to on this.

Start with guages, oil, temp, boost, knock alarm. You can buy triple guage pillars that take the place of the whole driver's pillar trim. If everything is cool after you do guages, make your wastegate actuator adjustable or buy one that is alredy done. DON"T turn boost up yet though!

We have taken care of the intake side of the motor now the exhaust. If I were to do it all over again I would bust out the EFE flap in the driver's exhaust manifold, take the muffler off and put in a piece of pipe, and gut the cat converter. Find someone that is GOOD with quadrajets and have them tune for max performance. Again b4black website has some info on this as well. Also gnttype.org has a writeup in the RECIPE section. Also a trans cooler, shift kit, and electric fan would be a nice touch sometime also.

I know this doesn't sound like a bunch of performance gain, but with these things done you will have a solid foundation to add BOOST to. I would think you should be able to run in the upper 15s with this done. You can also make an alcohol injection kit but that's for a whole other discussion. Remember with mods comes tuning. I could go on and on all day on what to do, but pretty much everything that can be done to a GN can be done to your car with some exceptions. suspension mods are all the same.

Hey
Back in the day i had one it ran 14's in 1320'. I put on 85 hot air headers i fabbed a pipe to feed the turbo a factory one might even fit i cant remember.I made a fender well dump witch was a big gain. Discount the plenum heater lines under carb. Those carbs are 795 cfm ,i fatten up the secondarys, ran a cool can ,and eletric fuel pump.. i also turned up the boost with race gas and mild timing 20 # of boost is not out of reach ..that car comes alive also run 160' thermostat .the key is run it cool alots of octane run it on the fat side and run the boost up...i had stock heads and long block
