Cool. I see G87 and G80 on the rpo.
I think that's the 3.42/POSI ID codes.

G80= posi

the turbo only came 3.42
GU6 is the RPO for 3.42

lots can happen in 25 years , always best to open it and verify the ratio and the type of posi in it as the auburn (cone style) was a common cheaper swap in to replace the clutch type eaton GM posi , and if the posi failed it could have even ended up with an open or even a 7.5 rear under there


and its not absolutely true that posi was an option on all turbo buicks , on the extended run 87 Gns (technically should have been 88 model ) the posi became standard and they adjusted the base price accordingly

A friend told me the posi units were dealer installed??


Back in the day, the best deal on a 8.5 was an open rear. Seemed like no one wanted them and they sold for half price. I think I paid $100 for one once.

Stupid when they upgrade to an aftermarket posi later anyway..
