According to Kenne-bell and ATR, during their baseline testing both '86 and '87 made 264 hp. That's the reason Chevrolet was tick off, they were way under rated.

Ron Yuille , assistant staff engineer on the Buick GN design team said that both 86 and 87 GN had 245 hp.
When the 86 Corvette was presented at 230 hp they presented the GN at 235 just to piss the Corvette guys off.
They did the same in 87 when the Corvette was advertised at 240 hp.
