1987 Buick GN - Lower Paint Texture?

Hi all I am new here and was wondering what the lower paint which is textured on a 1987 Buick GN is called?

I believe it has to do with anti chip or anti scuff but I'm not sure.

Its called "Gravel guard"
Its available in the aftermarket in different textures, and quality.
In my almost 40 years of doing body and paint, nothing in the aftermarket seems to equal the factory applied stuff in durability.
The factory stuff stays flexible.
Aftermarket only seems to equal in texture/appearance, its actually quite hard compared to factory stuff
