ok first question is
from the driver seat I cant put the passenger window down (power windows obviously)

any idea what this could be?

next one

this happen to me twice today and it seems like it might be more often as time goes on

I would be driving and the car would just turn off
not even a stall or eratic idle or anything like that
it just turns off as quiet as easy as if I just turned the key off
the car starts right away after but I obviously dont want this to keep happening

Car shutting off!

Have you did anything to the car, prior to this problem happening? If not, my guess would be the ignition module or coil pack! Sounds like there's no spark going to you plugs!

As for the car turning off, it could be numerous things. Mine has done that a few times and I'd track something done and it would work for a while then something else.

As for the power window, does it work from the passenger seat? If it does then I would say it's the switch on the driver's side. They are pretty cheap at any auto parts store and fairly easy to change out. I had to do one power lock switch and both power window switches so far in my car. I think it's just the age and moisture in the door that isn't condusive to electrical components lasting long.

my coil pack was checked a month ago at dynotech, however you could be right maybe this was its time to go now

someone had suggested that its my IAC?

the only thing I did prior to this happening was cleaning the IAC out with carb cleaner since it was filled with all the black residue

the switch works from the passenger side, but not from the driverside, however the drivers side window I can put down with the other side of the switch

It's a dual switch on the Driver's side. One side can work, and the other not. Go to your local parts store, find the "HELP" aisle/section, (where all products are packaged in red blister packs that say "HELP"), and grab the dual GM replacement. It's a very easy job to swap out. All GM G-bodies and many other GM cars of the late 70's through 80's era used the same switch, so it's usually very easy to find in stock.

maybe?

we use to have this happen on honda's when the person had alot of weight on their key ring , switch would go bad just a stab in the dark.

you might be right on the key ring
my key ring has 2 other keys, bottle opener, a Jeep symbol keychain thing from my last car, and its all on a caribeaner (that spelt right?) also sometimes known as a G-clip the clips climbers use to hold the lines to them

Pull the switch and check for continuity when activated. The schematics are available at GNTTYPE.ORG.
Don't be surprised if the switch is okay and the wiring is buggered up.I found my main power to the driver's door switch had been cut and was rubbing on the door where it passed through the hole in the door.Hope that helps a bit.
