I read where there is going to be 31 show classes at the BPG nats at Quaker City dragway here in August. I thought great, it will be nice to go to a show that is classed out decent like BG.

But I did some research and found that only 2 of them out of 31 are Turbo Regal. Turbo stock/Turbo Mod Thats a bit weak in my opinion. At least thats the info I have found. Maybe I have read some bad info, if not maybe we can get this changed at least for T/GN classes or something. If not I doubt I will go.

What are your guys opinion on this?

How about this? 2 Buford classes:

- Buford ugly stock
- Buford ugly modified

That should free up 29 trophies for TR's.

:D

Actually, having seen a million Bufords over the years, including today's Bufords, there's no way TR's could be Buicks. Gotta blame the mailman for that one.

Here's another thing that occurred to me this weekend as I wandered dripping around a mostly rained out car show at a local Chevy engine plant. If Chevy and not Buford had made the TR, and called it the COPO Monte or some such crap, they could have sold over 1,000,000 of them, and they'd be worth $100,000 apiece, and not the $10,000 people assume constitutes a fair offer.

:D

When I first read this, I thought the same thing and even mentioned it on the bpgforum. My consideration was 'noted' and a few more were added, but I agree it is off-balance.

There was a problem with the bpgforum several weeks back and many of the posts were lost, so there is a possibility that my post and suggestion was lost. I am not going to be participating in the show, but really feel there should be more classes for Turbo Regals.

I was going to post the same thing as why there probably wouldn't be as much support by the V6 folks as the V8 guys, but I didn't.... until now.

Don't forget the 2 GNX classes LOL GNX stock, and, GNX modified now that's gonna be a biggy. :D

First event just a few bugs to iron out after they see what works and what doesn't for next year.

I think there should be some T classes, older and newer Hotair turbo classes, and the Limited class too, maybe even a WE4 class. :)

Most of the V8 guys started the club to get away from the GSCA problems, but they are running it pretty much like a GSCA event only openly and honestly. ;)

Don't care much about the show classes myself but an alky. class woulda got me there for sure.

Yeah that kinda sucks. To me it doesn't make sense why just 2 classes if they're trying make this both a V8 and V6 event.

I looked into myself too, and was told that it could change but it being the first year they don't want spread the classes to thin.

I saw that GNX Class too................seems a waste to have a GNX stock and a GNX Modified!?? Maybe 3 or 4 for both may show.

Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal to add 2 more classes

Instead of..............Turbo Regal Stock and Turbo Regal Modified

Why not.................GN Stock/GN modified and T Stock/T Modified.

BUT Hey who am I...................................................

Well, I'm gonna keep my mouth shut for now. I'm really looking forward to the event and seeing people. Been a long time since I've been to a nationals. But I can already see 'room for improvement'.

I was disappointed in the two classes, too. I'm guessing that at least half of all cars there will be in these two classes - doesn't make sense...

Show Classes

Hi Guys, this is Drew's dad, Brad Conley posting under his name. I have duly noted your concern about only 2 classes for the turbo cars. I promise you next year will be different. We're not all perfect, me included. It looks like I short changed you guys, but I'll make it up to you next year with more classes and more trophy's. I'm sorry I messed up this year, but again, I will make it up to you. OK?

Any other concerns or comments, just ask. I'll be more than happy to answer any I can (won't be able to help much on the race car side of the deal ;) ).

Thanks for listening.

For now, we live under the narrow car show rules. We will have to work on Brad and Duane to expand the venue for 2005. In the meantime, we, the V6 community will just have to show up in force and kick some serious butt in the race classes. Any body think a V8 car will make the Q8?...........only if we don't show up.:D :D
