Hi all...came over from V8Buick with a trans question...

I'm putting a CZF from an '87 Monte SS in my '72 Skylark. I'm installing the Painless 60110 torque converter lockup kit in it and as you know it replaces the wiring harness to the solenoid and 4th gear switch.

My valve body has another switch near the rear that doesn't get plugged in now. I can't figure out if that's a 3rd gear switch or a temperature switch on an '87 CZF.
I've read a bunch of threads here and I'm still confused whether it's needed or not.

I'm not concerned if it's a temp switch. I am concerned if it's needed for 3rd gear.
Or should I be?
None of the lockup kits you can buy for this, or any instructional videos, even mention that second switch on the valve body. Obviously the car won't have a trans computer or ECM so I'd have no way to control it regardless.

Suggestions?

Thats a 3rd gear switch. Temp switches are bolted at the rear and have 2 prongs.
 
What is the other pressure switch for?
 
Torque converter is a D5, and the valve body has a paint stamped CZ5 (?) on the side also.

Hey all... me again,
I didn't want to start a new thread to ask a question.

What size are the cooler line fittings on this 200-4r? I'm trying to find a cooler line kit or the fittings size that go into the trans so I can get some adaptors. I have NPT fittings that fit, but I'm not sure that's kosher.

I wasn't going to do hard lines as that would require custom bending all the way forward. Braided steel rubber lines OK?

And I assume I need to plumb the radiator into the cooling circuit as well as an auxiliary cooler up front? It's a stock '87 unit with stock converter.

Not sure of the size of fittings.
I do a factory steel lines, or new aluminum lines.
 
Fluid can get very hot. Make sure whatever you use is rated for the temps it might see. I'd want a 2x factor at min so 400*F or more rating.
