I have 2002 Ford Escape that my wife drives, and in the mornings here lately when she goes to start it to leave for work she said the coolant light stay's on and she will shut it off and start the car again and it would go off, Well after a few weeks of this she has to drive it for awhile before restarting will shut it off at all it seems to be staying on longer. It also only comes on in the early morning when it is first started.

I have checked the coolent level and it is fine the car has about 84,000 on it also. Any help or ideas would be helpfull, TIA, Larry

Overfill the resevoir about 2 inchs. Ford has a TSB on this. The sensor is located too far up in the resvoir. I see this A LOT! Later, Bob.

Ok thanks Bob, I will try it when she gets home tonight and see if it shuts it of in the morning

You need a new coolant bottle. I used to be a Mazda tech. Our Tributes are the same thing as an Escape. The sensor in the bottle is bad, dont waste your time overfilling it, just go to the dealer and buy a new one. They are less then $100 and put it in yourself.
