2006 Lucerne that any function the key fob operates has stopped working. Have replaced the
remote batteries and reprogrammed the remotes but still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions
outside of taking it to the dealer?

Just tried to reprogram the remotes again but they will not reprogram. In the driver's info center (DIC) it is supposed to say Remote Learning Active but it never goes to that screen it will only say Press V (check) to start remote active learning. If you press V it will blink and say the same thing again. Any ideas? There are no trouble codes, bad fuses, and everything else on the car works fine.

I'm guessing you've read the link I posted?
If the remotes are fine internally, then I would suggest that the BCM has a problem and you need to see a dealer.
It sounds like the BCM has lost it's programming and nneds to have it re-initialized.
If that doesn't work, then it could be time for a new BCM.
If it's like my Grand Prix,it should be a black box on the *inside* of the driver's dash end.

I did read it but didn't see a solution there. The BCM I would imagine is the more likely culprit. I would imagine that anything BCM related would be a requirement for a dealer visit?? Car is my in-laws but is out of warranty :frown: with 61K miles so I was trying to save them a visit and $$$. I read somewhere online about a sensor in the passenger mirror related to the keyless entry system?? Not sure if that applies to this car or not though. Thanks for your input.

Did you have remotes checked for rf signal. make sure the tabs that hold down batteries down are not broken. I had one that would not relearn remotes and could not relearn tpms sensors. I replaced the rf module under dash panel. The rf module has to be reflashed so off to gm you go. Unless you know anyone who does moble stereo repair. Most of them have tech2 with tis so the can reflash car after repairs. good luck

I haven't had them checked, but I think you are on to something with the radio frequency module. That makes the most sense, since that is how the keyless entry system works and also because the vehicle will not even enter into the remote relearning process. It will go to the initial screen to start remote relearning in the DIC, but when you try to start the process it will blink and go right back to the start screen so there is a communication breakdown somewhere between the DIC and the remotes. I assume that middle man is the rf module? It would be one thing if the car would start the relearning process and was sending out the necessary signals and the remotes wouldn't program, but the car itself will not go to that screen in the DIC. I've googled rf module but all I get are results that mention it. When I google BCM I get multiple hits where I could purchase one. Is the rf module a part that can be purchased by itself or is it part of another part that would have to be purchased? Hope that makes sense.

Did a search online and noticed several used remote keyless entry modules for sale complete with remotes with them. Anyone know if you bought one of these and it was actually good if it would need reprogramming since it would already have the matching remotes with it or if it would be better to buy a new one and have it programmed?

Anyway you do it it has to be flashed. The module number has to programed so the bcm knows who its talking to .I know it sounds stupid but thats how they do it.
