where is the best place to adjust so that when I put it in drive the indicator on the dash actually shows it is in D, not D and a half

thanks in advance

At the slip rod down near the tranny linkage. Loosen the rod, have someone hold it up a little, make sure the rod moves up a bit in the holder, then tighten. Check.

It's a 15-25 minute job.

if the indicator is just off a little, all you gotta do is take the trim piece off from under the culumn, drop the shifter to L1 (car not running, of course), loosen the screw that holds the little cable to the column, move the cable a bit, and tighten the screw back down.
abouta 3 minute job, including takeing the trim off and putting it back on. and you get to sit in the seat and not get your hands dirty at all.
