This weekend (Nov. 5,6 and 7th) is the 2nd annual DragRaceAction Magazine's Outlaw World Champhionships in Huntsville, Al. They will be running Outlaw 10.5 for $20k as well as Limited Street, EZ Street, Pro Mods, Automatic Quick 8, 6.0 H/U and 7.0 H/U..

I'll be there all weekend rooting on some local racers. Anyone else planning to attend?

think Dusty Bradford is planing on going.
I wish I could go but that is a trek from california.

too bad...the south east musclecar challenge is nov. 5-6th in reynolds
i'll get some video of that hopefully

Look for the Lynch Mob to clean house! Yep it's a Ford, it's super quick, & it's hard to beat.

You're right Mr. McCoy, ole Tim has been on a tear. However, there will be some good competition there for him. Lot of Yankees and Texans supposed to be headed down for this one.

You coming or you going to Reynolds?
1ARUNEM.. (thinking he'll buy you a cheeseburger)..

I don't want to take anything away from those guys that are traveling to come to the race, but they better bring their A game. With Lynch running consistent 164+ mph in the 1/8th and Kirk running consistent 4.5xs they is going to be some tough competition. I'm leaving tonight to head down there. Can't wait for the festivities to being. :D

No cheeseburgers for us in A.L. or down in G.A. this year Warren. 2 baby boys, a friend's wedding, a 3 year old's birthday party, & getting 2 frames ready to powdercoat will take up all our time this weekend. Have a good time bud & tell Dusty how pretty the MUSCLECARSALVAGE.net sticker is on his back window :D

FYI, Tim Lynch goes a 4.560 at 165mph in the 1/8th today testing at Huntsville for this weekend's shootout. This is a new Outlaw 10.5 record!!

:)

Jeff Cooner ran a 4.87@148 in Limited Street. Pretty dang impressive for no wheelie bars and no W tires. The place is packed, and there are probably more on the way. I can't wait! :D

Stop rubbing it in people ;) Don't you mean sissy bars! Keep us updated please & thanks for the info.

Heading up now. Jeff Cooner is actually a friend of mine. I'll have to congratulate him today.

4.87 is FLYING on a REAL 10.5 with no wheelie bar at 3000lbs.

I'm out.. Full report when I return!!
:D

Tim Lynch ran a 4.54 as I was leaving the track, and I'm not sure of the mph on that run. The bump spot in Outlaw was 4.75 after the second round of qualifying. I didn't stick around for all of the third round, so I have no clue what it is now. I can only imagine that it's faster than that by now. When I left they still hadn't run 3rd round of Limited Street. After 2 rounds of L/S, there were only 3 cars in the 4.9x range. I'm sleepy as nuts so I'm going to bed.

What a weekend of racing. Lynch in the 50's, Cooner in the 80's on a true 10.5!! I looked for Hoyle to put a number up but he couldn't make a good pass.

Mike McCoy, I still have a ways to go on mine so I just watched but I wish I could have run.

BB&T went a 5.0 something in EZ street and 3 other mustangs were in the 5.20-5.40 range but this race was all run with no tech. Usually it's a 5.50 class.

LinearX, I planned to stop by but never got a chance.

Did any of you notice the old Peterbuilt on air bags pulling the black flamed Nova? I think they were from Seattle and run the PSCA. That's the baddest tow rig of all time.

Yeah, I saw that truck. What a rig. Front bumper was on the ground. Beautiful car too!

What a race, what a show!
:D

Those cats with the Pete are from Washington state. I think they had the nicest looking car there, but I would have taken the rig any day! :D

The scale of the race was mind boggling, but the execution left a bit to be desired. I go so fed up seeing the promods make one pass, and then the track being closed down for an hour while they cleaned up the carnage left in their wake.

The ladders got hosed up a bit, especially the Limited Street ladder. But when it was pointed out the officials that there was a mistake, they took offense to it and didn't appear willing to correct the issue.

I think the race should have been held at Commerce due to the space constraints at Huntsville. I also think the staff would be more readily prepared to handle the magnitude of an event that size.

All in all, a good time except for getting jacked around in qualifying. Hanging out with everyone was a hoot. We were pitted next to the K-9 racing guys, several cats from Texas, Florida, and Darren Hoyle was near us as well. Can't wait to do it all again! :D

I believe they had a much bigger turn out than expected. I think it would have been much better if they would have left the promod's out of it. Sure they are fun to watch occasionally but the crowd was there for the 10.5 cars. That's what happens when George Howard gets involved. He loves the promods and the big tire cars. He probably thought the spectators were there for the promods:rolleyes:

I heard the ladders were screwed and they were filling broken slots with alternates at the last minute like it was a bracket race. They definately need to change for next year. I love it at H'ville because it's close for me but it needs some changes. Either leave the big tire cars at home or move to a track with more pit space.
