Came across a set of used 275/60/15 bfg drs free. Is a 28" tire too tall for my current set up? {basic recipe car} Thanks-kurt

Yes, They are to tall. You need a 9" converter or a gear change to run that big of a tire. You should be running at least high 11's or faster to run those tires.

You can runs the tires but your time slip might show it.

Not recommened.. A good size for you is 26x10.5x15

Good luck

Thanks Chris! I will tuck them away in the garage till i need them.Kurt

Actually, they probably won't hurt in the least.

Even a stock motor/turbo/injector car can run 110 in the 1/4. If you don't lock the converter this is 51-5300 RPM with 25.5 - 26" tall tires. The stock motors HP peak is down around 4500 rpm. The taller tires may actually allow for more mph and will also allow for a higher boost launch, which will translate into quicker ET's.

When Drag radials first came out, a guy I raced with had similar mods to my car (stock recipe car). Our local track gave him a set of 275/60's to try out (BFG's marketing headquarters were in the town). We all gave him verbal abuse of how the tires would slow him down, but he was actually .1 quicker than my car running 275/50's. And I always tried to be faster than he was.

Thanks for yor input UNGN.I think i will give them a try! Kurt
