Hopefully you(Wells) recognize that there was no "name calling" on this thread, and besides the word "hypocrite" in the title, defines a person or thing who generalizes, pokes fun, or makes an accusation of one thing or another, while doing that same act in the process. Not one post of my own included actual names of any person. Those who responded assumed all responsibility. I also disagree with your posts on TBS.com regarding your "mechanic", but did I complain? The work was performed as you specified, yet you still passed the blame on "the mechanic" after "the mechanic" suggested alternatives to your requests. Installing a new chip without supplying a FPR and passing the blame on low fuel pressure after the fact is very gentlemanly. Thank you.

By personal, do you mean one aimed at you specifically? No, takes more than one person to dance. Oh, you mean by the word "personal" like I send you an e-mail, and not on line. No, that can't work, as you e-mailed me last night that you did not wish to receive any more E-mails from me. Like the southwestern section ones that I send out. Ok, I am only complying, as I told you that I would do last night.

Scott: I would have preferred that you sent me an E-mail so as to not clutter this thread up anymore, but since you brought it up on here, I would like an opportunity to respond.

Naturally you did, and as to whether you complained...I do not know if you complained or not.

I did not specify for the mechanic to install the alternator incorrectly clocked, and although the actual incorrect clocking of the alternator was not the mechanic's doing, I ok'd the installation after the mechanic told me that he did not feel comfortable reclocking the alternator, and that it would not hurt to install it incorrectly clocked. It did. It placed the hotwire on the alternator almost making contact with the valve cover, and I think that it was shorting out on and off, causing the motor to run somewhat eratic. And the mechanic also left off the alternator rubber boot insulator, inadvertly, I am sure, but nonetheless, left off.

I not only did not specify for the mechanic to pull the wiring for the SM out of the wiring harness, I specifally requested him to roll all of the excess wiring between the SM and the wire hook in a roll up under the dash so I had enough wire left inside the harness to remount the Sm as necessary without any unharnessed wire showing. I was so happy to have the SM installed and working that I did not notice how the wire for the sm had been pulled out of the harness halfway up the harness length. What alternatives did the mechanic suggest?

A AFPR was already mounted on the car at the the time that the chip was supplied to the mechanic, and the mechanic did install the chip adjust the AFPR second, and the mechanic even showed me the reading on his vacuum gage which showed about 42 lbs, but from where I was sitting I was unable to verify if the line was off or not, and I unfortunately was too comfortable to get up out of the chair to do so. Shame on me.

The car did run ok on the way home, but a little eratic, and upon a restart about 1/2 hour after I got home, seemed to restart eratically also. Took longer to crank. I decided that the best solution was for me to call the mechanic and advise him that I would like the recently equipment uninstalled and the original equipment reinstalled at my expense to be reinstalled at a later date 1 piece at a time to verify improvements, and the mechanic advised that I should removed the wire going to the SM, as that was all that it could be, and that he (the mechanic) did not remember tightening the nut on the AFPR and was not sure, so I should check that and make sure that the nut was tight. I did check the AFPR nut and it was not tight, but it was not so loose that i felt that it lost it's setting on the drive home. I did not feel comfortable removing the wire, and maybe not noticing any improvement in motor smoothness, and again asked the mechanic if I came back down could he uninstall everything and reinstall the original equipment at my expense, and again he advised that the only thing that it could be was the wire going to the SM, and I should unplug it.

I took it to another mechanic who uninstalled, reclocked, and reinstalled the alternator, and on his pressure fuel gage, the fuel pressure was set at about 32 lbs at idle with the line off. We readjusted it to about 42 lbs with the line off and locked it down. The car did detonate and show on the sm on the way down when I kicked the gas pedal a little, so I took it easy going down and stayed out of the boost.

So, I did and do not hold the mechanic accountable for anything that was not directly related to his installation work, and as being the customer, I am ultimately responsibility for everything, regardless of whose errors they are.

Starter r & r came out ok, though. Oh, and glad to hear that your chevy runs good.
