Anyone have the rear stock GN wheels widen to 8" ? was going buy some aftermarket GN wheels But if I could find a pair of widen wheels or get a pair widen? Anyone have any idea's?
Back in the day, I widened a set of stock GN wheels to 8". This was with a 275/60/15 M/T DR. The best back spacing seemed to be 4", if you were running the stock steel 1/8" thick drums. I was running the aluminum drums, that are 1/4" thick. This made the best back spacing 4 1/8". And that's what I did. This car is lowered 1" at all four corners. I did have to grind a little off the fender lip to make them work with out rubbing. I also have adjustable UCAs to center the rear end between the frame rails. Mine was off about 3/8" from the factory. This is quite common. I run airbags set at 8 psi on the left and 10 on the right. It's not enough to lift the car. It just keeps things from rubbing if I hit a big dip or have friends in the back seat.
Years later, I talked my buddy Alan Budnik into making me a set of GN wheels in aluminum. Those were the first ever set of Aluminum GN wheels on planet Earth. I still have them on my car. Same size and same back space as the steel ones. Here's the steel 8" ones.
