If I use 3:73 gears with stock tires will it shift out of 3rd in a quarter mile?? THANKS... mike

i would say yes thats if you put it in OD. In my car i have to hold it in 3rd or it will go into OD in the quarter. this is running 26" tall tires. im going to 28" tires soon.

Depends on what your trap speed is and whether your convertor is locked or not. If you're nearly stock I doubt you will have to make the shift. Gears are not popular for these cars and pretty much a waste of money on most stock blocks. If you're near stock I would leave them alone. They might put you out of your powerband if you stay in third and you don't have the power to pull OD. Just my opinion as I've never done it. My dad has 3.73s in his stageII car but we spin it a hair past 7K so it really doesn't apply here.

I run 3.73 and my car doesn't call for 4th because I run a the 28 inch tall tire, if I switch to the 26 drag slick then I have issues with it needing to go to 4th but doesn't seem to hurt it either when I do shift into 4th still have a decent trap speed of 114-117mph

jamie just wondering why you did the swap? is it good for more mph or just to get you out of the whole faster? just wondering

The drop in tire size is good for more mph and being slicks you get better 60 foots. We bought these this way and just did the swap to see the difference. Right now I run Mickey Thompson 28 drag radials and really like them, they like more air then the et streets.

right now im thinking of changing from my 26X10.5X15 ET Street and Going to the MT 275/60/15 drag radials.

So far I really like the Mikey Thompson Drag radials, they seem to hook really well.
