I was riding around the Chesapeake bay in my uncle's boat on Sunday, and I see this big a$$ Scarab come by in the no wake zone. This boats motor was really throaty, kinda like those obnoxiously loud Mustangs. So I'm thinking to myself, with the torque the 3.8 T produces, could you use one for marine application? I'm sure it would be a headache and a half having to waterproof the ECM, wire it and all, but why not..... :D

I dont see why not. I'm no boat expert but some of those drives can handle 1000+ lb ft of torque. Back aorund 66 or so OMC used to offer the Buick 225 V-6 with thier drives and I beleive it was based on the current BOP bolt pattern. If not any thing for an Olds motor should work. IIRC somebody has a link to a SFI powered boat.

If Volvo can do it, why can't we!
Sure, you could do it, but you would probably want to design a cooling system for the turbo. It would be very hard as you would have an endless supply of water.

Don't those Scarabs usually have twin big blocks?
