The 4 wire is a dual sensor. It has a 3X and a 1X signal. Look closely at the BMS balancer. They have two trigger wheels.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any advantge to the 4 over the 3 wire I have a stage II that uses the 3 wire
crank sensor to a 4 wire connector

Some of the early batch fire systems used the 1X signal as a sync signal to the ignition module in place of a cam signal. No real advantage. You can use a 4 wire sensor in place of the 3 wire, you will just ignore the 1X output pin.
