have to choose a plug cold enough to not detonate and that will retain enough heat to stay clean
the 103 would be colder for running higher boost than normal pump gas but it may not reach a temp enough to stay clean under street driving
the 3924 (or the 104) is a hotter plug than the 103 and should be ok to use daily street use , but i would change it out for a colder plug (like the AR3932 ) before going to the track and turning up the boost , but i wouldnt drive expect the 103 or the ar3932 to stay clean on the street
as for the seat the gn1 can use either gasket style or taper seat plug just fine , just make sure whatever plug you run it reaches in deep enough to cover the threads in the head
surprised you have to ask its basic automotive knowledge
Thanks for the smart ass remark. The orginal post asks nothing about heat range.

the heads dont come into play , its a heat range decision ,
your post wasnt specific as to why would someone run a tapered vs a gasket seal plug , the question you asked was why someone would run a 3294 vs a 103
look at the condition of the 103 and look a the 3924 . the 103 does not look like it was hot enough to stay clean for the environment it was run under where as the 3924 is doing better
stock plug for gn was r44 but i wouldnt try to run high boost on that so most chose the next step colder to the r43 to allow a little more boost but with a plug that wont stay as clean as it could

Correct my post was not specific. Now that I have clarified my question. I have my answer. I am not familiar with GN1 heads and was not aware it will take both types of plugs. Now I am.
The 103 is a new plug. This what the owner supplied to install.
