Ok, I've had a problem for awhile and I thought I figured it out, but maybe not.
On my Direct scan I show the 3rd and 4th gear lights lit up all the time. I unplugged the wire connector at the trans and grounded both wires out and that makes the lights go away. So, I have the pan off right now and replaced the pressure sensor in the center front of the valve body and that didn't change a thing. I can disconnect the wire from the sensor and ground it and the light goes out. Same way with the sensor on the side of the valve body. I can disconnect the wire and ground it and the light goes away. So, what kind of problem do I have? I figured a new sensor would fix the problem, but it doesn't seem to matter. I didn't replace the sensor on the side of the vb. The one in the front has a brown wire going to it and the one on the side has an orange wire going to it. I'm lost here.

It sounds to me

Like all is working correctly. The switch is normally "closed" (light on) and it opens with pressure (light goes out) . So without pressure the light should be on. I think you got it backwards. It "opens" the circuit to send signal, not closes it.
Now what were you trying to fix to begin with? If it was the gear stays on on the scan tool all the time, replace switches and try again.

If that's the case then maybe it's alright. I was trying to get my Direct scan to work, as in the 3rd/4th gear lights are illuminated all the time. I don't know that this has any adverse affect on the drivability of the car except with the extender chip it changes timing ( I thought) when you are in high gear. I assumed that if the car thought it was in high gear all the time then the timing thing wouldn't work right, I may be way off base here.
Anyway, that's what prompted me to try to fix it to begin with. I just kept noticing that the 3rd and 4th gear lights stayed on all the time with the scan tool, no matter what gear I was in. So, I unpluged the connector to the trans and looked at the scan tool, still read 3rd and 4th while it was in park. So, I ran a ground wire from the pins individually and I could get both lights to go out by grounding two different pins. After I dropped the pan I now know that those two pins go to the two pressure sensors( I'm still trying to learn). So I had one new one to replace and I did, that was the front one. I may be looking at this all wrong, or maybe my scan tool looks at it wrong and I haven't had a problem at all. I don't know? Thanks for any help Bruce, I know I'm probably starting to be a PIA, as I keep asking about this, but I'm just curious and want to try to make sense of it all.
