This morning's paper announces the opening tomorrow of the 3rd legal drag strip here in the San Diego area. This one is near the Barona Casino and is 1/8 mile (for now). The 1/8 mile strip at Qualcomm Stadium has 4 racing lanes. And we have good old 1/4 mile Carlsbad Raceway near Carlsbad.

We are very fortunate to have 3 legal and safe places to race. The way they're cracking down on street racing around here, we need 'em!

Hey, cool name, I have been browsing the boards for a while, just havent posted. I am looking to get a grand national or t type one day. Time and money...

Slick,

I don't want to sound like I'm whining but your topic makes it sound like everything is coming up roses here in SD and it's not. Carlsbad is a crappy dragstrip even on a good day and is normally not prepped unless you want to pay to race their Sunday Outlaw Bracket class.

The stadium drags are nothing but a joke designed to give 16 second imports a place to race. I say more power to them and they can race in the parking lot to their hearts content.

I'm hoping Barona will be our salvation even if it's only an 1/8th mile track. Based on the info on their site their first Race Legal event is only going to allow 25 competitors over the age of 30. Hopefully this won't be true for every event.

Neal
