4.1 Conversion

I want to know how to turbo a 4.1 v6 in my 84 buick regal limited. Leik where to get the parts? Total Cost? How hard to install it and what I need. Also reccomended upgrades for more power. Thanks, Mike.

Depends on how far you want to go. If you just want to add a turbo, and see what the engine can handle, or you want to make the 4.1 internally setup to handle boost higher than stock? I would look in the parts for sale, and try to score wire harness with ECM, intake with all the parts on it, like injectors, EGR, fuel rail, ect... Then pulleys, intercooler, down pipe for turbo, then fuel pump, and lines also. The list may go on, it maybe cheaper to get a roller!

I was thinking of getting a roller and rebuild it. I found one on craigslist: Low mileage!!!!!! 1984 Buick Regal 3.8L turbo engine

I would probably have it rebuild and painted. Any opinions on that type of motor and the impact it could have as compared to the stock 4.1 besides the fact that its turboed? Would it be worth rebuilding?

Do a search, im in the process of building a 4.1 as we speak, and so are a few more folk on this site. I can tell you this speed is addictive, the faster you go the faster you want to go. So i say i you go at it, go all out, and get you a stroker done. Lots of info on this site take your time and read, read, read, and read some more, Good luck.

Go with a 4.1, forged intervals and a 87 drivetrain or it will end up costing you more along with alot of frustation- been there done that.if you get too frustrated you may not even finish your project and get to enjoy it.

Look for an 87 roller package-can be found for $1500-$2500.also check with brian weaver-g body parts to see what he has.

So a roller package includes motor pulleys and drivetrain? Is that the price for rebuilt?

Every roller package is different- its up to the seller to decide what comes with it or whatever is left on the car and what price he s asking. if you got a roller package that just needed a motor you could build a 4.1 seperate from the roller package and have a great combo when done, i have several parts,wheels,trannies etc-also have a 4.1 block standard #4291 with 2 new billet caps, 6.5" carillo rods and ross forged pistons for a stroker motor combination that i would consider selling but only as complete package-will not part out the motor parts-will sell them for $1300. if you re interested-time to downsize my inventory and finish my stage2 block.
