Howdy,

What turbo would you recommend for a 4.1 in a 4000-4400lb car with a TH200-4R, 3.42 rear gears, and I was thinking 3000-3200 stall lock up. I'm look at a GT wheeled, dual ball bearing turbo because this is a street car and with no cage, I won't be crossing into the extreme booste regions but I would like to hear suggestions useing the old school stuff aswell to make 450hp on pure 93 pump gas.

Thanks,

Currently we (PTE) do not offer a Garrett GT dual ball bearing turbo for use on a 3-bolt Buick application. The only unit available at this time is the GT3255A and the GT3255E. These are the replacements for the TA-49 and the TE-44, which would be way too small for a 4.1L setup. On a street car with that amount of stall and a 4.1, I would be looking at either a PT67 P-trim or a T64E P-trim turbo. These would easily be able to feed a 4.1L and would spool rather well with your converter. No problem making 450fwhp either. The PT67 P-trim is rated to support 760 fwhp when maxed and the T64E (aka TE45a) will support 700 fwhp when maxed out. The PT67 uses a new GT series compressor wheel and has a sweet spot of 18-27psi. I would think on pump gas you would easily reach your goals with either one of these units.
Let me know if I can help you.

Thanks for the reply, I've probably asked this question 4 times now and finally someone has replied. Since I don't currently have headers what if I stepped up to ATR 4 bolt style headers? How would that widen my choices up to including both ball bearings and GT wheels? I'd also like to keep this thing as streetable as possible so lower stalls and more power at lower rpms for durability with the relatively weak deck production 4.1 are very welcome options.

Thanks,
