95 GMC I made a stop & shut it off today, then when I restarted it I noticed when I put it in gear something was not right. It seemed to be in 3rd gear but then I seen that the tach wasn't working & also the shift indicator.

Shut it off & restarted & the tach & shift indc. were working again but it was starting out in 3rd. It would go into 2nd manually but hit real hard & hard back into 3rd.

Made anther stop & all was back to normal.

Must have been an electrical glitz of some kind. I suppose I should have it scanned.

sounds like a manual lever posion switch on the back side of the shifter arm on the case.

These years had issues with ignition switch problems. It was a tech bulletin when I was working at the GM dealership and pretty common problem.

My boss had the same problem with his 95 Suburban. Replaced the ignition switch and all was good again.
