Looks killer, wish it would have 2 overdrives so i could run 4.11s or taller on my street driven GN. Maybe a .50 6th gear

I had one in my old gray Buick. I removed the transbrake 4L80E and installed the 6X. It went from a 12.43 to a 12.29 through the quarter. It was a blast to drive too!

dang did you take any pics or videos of the setup? Id love to hear it going down the track

I thought the bolt patterns were different for the 3.8L / 4.1L, no?

Tell me more about the tranny...

This transmission really has my eye. It would go into my 240z. I'm nearly finished with the rear differential. I've swapped a LSD from a 300ZXTT into a Nissan Armada case with a 2.94 gear.

I've had 5 Buicks and I don't care how well they are built, the 200r4 does not have the staying power of a turbo 350, 400, 4l80e, etc.

I've got a few pics of my old Hooptie. When I bought the car, it had been converted to a SBC. I bought it rolling. I installed a mild Vortec headed 355 engine. It went 12.43 with a transbrake 4L80E trans. Later on I put a small shot of NO2 on it and dipped down in the 11's. Later on, I decided to install the 6X. It was one of TCI's first prototypes. It was a blast with the 6X. After playing with it for a few months, I sold the car to TCI. Now it's their company test car. The first two pics are from 2008, when I owned the car. The last two pics are with the engine that TCI installed in it. A 502hp 502 crate motor along with the 6X.

The bolt patterns on the 3.8L/4.1L are considered a BOP (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) type pattern. They are different from the Chevy pattern. There are a couple of different ways to bolt the 6X to a BOP engine. The cheapest way is to use an adapter plate. TCI sales one for $68. It's very thin and works great. I've even used it to adapt a 4L80E to a 455 before.

The other way is to have them install a BOP SFI-approved bellhousing on the 6X. Here is a link to the 6X page.

I installed the Optional Outlaw shifter with bump switches. You can leave the shifter in OD and the transmission shifts automatically. You can also tap a button to switch the transmission into manual mode and use the bump switches on the shifter to bump up or bump down to the next gear. Very trick!

The 4L80E fits right in there.

Grumpy, I've only put around 600hp through one. I know of a couple guys that have put well over 850 through theirs. They are very durable...and they have a lifetime warranty.

No mods to the tunnel at all?... good to know... but the pivot forthe shifter is farther rearwardm the mount is farther rearward and the driveshaft needs to be shortened...
