Anyone have any good short times with street tires?
Is there any benefit to lowering air pressure on a street tire for traction?

I was just thinking that my numbers would be a whole lot better if I could leave with more boost than 2-3 psi, without roasting the tires.

3.3 60 fts for me last time i ran.......:( terrible memories lol......going on some slicks sunday....hoping to improve :D

you might get lucky every once in a while and run a decent 60' on street tires, but i don't think there's any way to consistantly run under 2.0/1.9.

your best bet is to get a set of stickies and get em hot:).

I believe my best was 2.1 (I think), I usually get 2.3.
I noticed alot of guys at the track with street tires letting air out. I didnt think this would help any with radial tires. Does it?

Also, Ive heard mixed feelings regarding weather or not doing a burnout on street tires helps at all, what do you guys think?

ive been told to avoid the water box if you can on radials...and spin em a lil just to get any water you may have picked up, off.

Actually on the gt's was able to get a 1.71 on street tires, but like someone already mentioned only once, needless to say the tires were wasted and needed to be replaced but that was also after 20 some passes.

Can get low 1.7s on narrow 235 BFG DRs with 24 lb air, a good "sleeper" tire for the street instead of the wide look 275s. I just turned the tires over dry to clean them off, launched at about 4 lb boost, mash the accelerator, and then quickly release the brake. Stock suspension except pass. side airbag 25 lb and driver side 10 lb. Also using the Thrasher 100 chip on either a 100 Xylene mix or sometimes straight Torco 110.

You can really put the hurt on the street cars at your tracks fun night, no slicks :D . Using 28" MT ET Drags I can get more consistent low 1.7s with a 2 lb launch. I have only ran the car twice on DRs. Tim

I've also only pulled 2.3 60' times but I think my front end was binding. I've watched a streetracing video of my car a bunch of times and the front end doesn't lift at all (meanwhile the blown 5.0 gets a mean holeshot). Even with the Bowling Green stickies I could barely launch with cars on regular street tires.

It is very difficult to lauch with regular street tires. I went to the BFG's drag radials and it was another world. I believe the hotter you get the tires the better they stick. They say not to get them not because it doesn't help them but becasue it shortens there street life. I went through 2 DR's in 2000 street miles and 20 passes. They are now bald. But they stick.

DON"T HEAT UP REGULAR RADIALS! They will only get greasy. don't drive through the water box either with them. Just do a quick spin to clean them off. And letting too much pressure out of the tires isn't good either. To find the correct do this method. Do a burnout. If the mark is darker in the middle let some air out. If it's darker on the sides, put some in. Do this until the "foot print" is even throughout. This will ensure the maximum tire to ground contact. Hope this helps.

2.249 being my best on 215/65/15 Toyo Proxes. 1.987 best on 275/50/15 BFG DRs. I dont recall how much psi I had in them at the time.

I got 1.9's and 2.0's with my car after the turbomotion V2 kit and a stock turbo. To bad the engine only had 90psi of compression per hole. This was on 235/60/15's Roadmaster Rampage @ 32psi - no burnout and a Peg Leg car.
