I have a TE-44 Turbo now.Looking for the better Turbo out of these 2 for best overall street performance without excessive Turbo lag.

I only have experiance with the 6776 so my opinon is baised..

Which ever you choose, make sure your fuel system can handle the extra air. ypu will also need a new chip burned to adjust the fueling.

These turbos really flow a ton of air and spool very fast.

For now I think Im going to keep the 44 and ditch the Garret Housing for a Precision .63 Housing.I got a feeling if I went with a 6776 I wouldn't be happy because of the lack of throttle response and lag, even after adding a 3200 converter.

I think you are making a mistake.

The dual ball bearing turbos have excellent spooling charteristics. and throttle response does not suffer.

camparing a 6776 to an old te44 is like comparing grapes to watermelon.

Yeah but are you talking about Drag Racing or Street Performance that is snappy:confused: Im into the latter.

Well I had a TE44 on the old motor
New motor has 6776 BB with 70 housing
Running the same convertor
I did change intercoolers from old Stretch BG with 2" inlet to Cotton's FMIC
Now the BB6776 pushs some air!
The BB6776 is balls to the walls better

Yeah but are you talking about the Race track or on the street??

I have ridden in a car with a 6776bb turbo and a 3200 converter and it flat out boiled the tires when he got on it. It is not a laggy turbo for its size. Awesome on the street.

The only lag with my 6776 is the time it takes for my foot to press the gas pedal to the floor. :D

MT ET Streets are up in smoke from ANYTHING under 30 mph. That doesnt sound like lag to me. Thats with no RJC controller..just an external WG.

CAll Mike at Fullthrottle. Website is at the the bottom of the main screen.

Money amount depends on journal or dual ball bearing version. The latter cost a few bucks more but well worth it. As far as the converter goes I just had my 3200 restalled to a 2800. I just installed it last night...havent had a chance to see how it does yet. Read my post in this section from a few weeks back '6776 Track Results"

How would the 6776 run with the stock modified 3000 stall 12 inch D5???

I really dont know. Every car and combo is different. What might work for one guy will not work for another. I do know that you will probably want a smaller converter than a 12". Less reciprocating weight.

The right stall is the tricky part...

Myself? I'm going to get a 6152 friday, I've heard nothing but great things about this turbo and it seems like a good step up from my old 44:cool:

I don't know what Im going to do as far as the next Turbo.I just don't want a Turbo that has alot of Lag.This 6776 might be a good Turbo but it certainly doesn't have the throttle response of the 44.Don't know too much about the 6152 either. For a car that is driven 100% of the time on the street there is no reason to go to big. These car's are not big cubic inches that run well with the Big Turbo's unless its a pure Race set up.

In street trim
Maybe you missed the fact I HAD a TE44 now BB6776
So I qualify to speak about both turbos
The 6776 has great street manners
I don't know where your getting this turbo lag from
But do what you want it's your car

I just don't want to go back to the old days when I had the 60-1 Hi FI Turbo. That Turbo was not a real big Turbo but was laggy as hell.Im guessing that the 6776 is much better then that Turbo was. There alot of money those 6776 Turbo's so one has to really be sure before buying.

What we are trying to get across to you is that the 6776 ball bearing isn't going to be laggy. Probably not much laggier than a TE44 if any at all. This is because although it has a lot bigger wheels, the ball bearings reduce friction and it rolls over if a butterfly flaps its wings by it.

I run a 3k stall on my PT51, which is similar to a TE44 in size, but I am not changing converters when I put my 67 on. I don't expect it to act any differently until I put my foot in it and it blows the tires off.

It's apples to oranges here man. Those old school technology turbos are not anything like the new stuff besides the fact that they look like silver snails.
