Do we need to run a restrictor on the feed line? Mine came with a fitting on the feed side, does that have a restrictor built into it?

Yup, you need an oil restrictor. FT's oil feed line has one built in if you're using Mike's. If you're fabbing your own line (braided steel etc..) then you need to add your own. HTH.

ok so where can i get one? my SS line i have screws right onto the fitting that is on the turbo.

FatGnat and I already answered your question.

That fitting that came on the feed side is a restricted fitting!

You're good to go!

I thought we went over all that.

;)

You can use any AN 4 line you want .............the AN 4 fitting on the turbo is the restrictor.....take a peek down in to it the hole is really small compared to a regular AN 4 Fitting , a call to Precison verified this also .

Thank you, this is the info i was looking for. Not some cynical old man yelling his ramblings at me..... Just you wait Joe, you'll get yours. I just wanted to double check cause i just read another thread about a guy blowing his seals out cause he didn't have a restrictor, and wanted to make sure that didn't happen to me.

No Prob ...i seen a bit of confusion as to the SS line being thought as the restrictor , the line is Just if you want to hook it up easily and it looks lik ea stock type piece VS braided line .......if you want to run something else your going to have to get an adapter for the stock oil brass block ( Going into the engine block ) or change it out to a different type of block as i did a long time ago , the oil saver is another option but i dont know to much about them .

"Yelling his ramblings", Jeesh, it wasn't even in all caps! Wow, that's the response I get for all the good advice I gave you! Just remember, you're going to get old some day , too! Seriously, I'm going to take what you said was in sarcasm and jest! :D  :)

I am in process of ordering the necessary pieces to install my new GT6162re. I was talking to somebody at ESPperformance.com and considering their braided supply and drain lines for my oiling. Their drain line should be a breeze but the supply line will still need some adapting.

ESP's supply line is meant for a stock turbo and has a 45 degree bend. To hook to the precision supplied restrictor we'd need to put a fitting on that would turn the line down 135 degrees to match up with the esp line. I'm sure that is possible just still some screwing around and ordering misc adapters and angles.

In your reply to this thread you were referring to a oil feed line from Full throttle. I checked their web sight and didn't see anything like this. Do you have one? Pictures? Would theirs fit under the stock turbo cover? You mention it has a restictor built in which if positioned right could help turbo cover clearance issues. Thanks for any advice you can lend!

Eric

Check out 87Nat's install picture in the sticky section (67BB pics installed). He's on the second page midway down. He had to cut a notch in the stock heat shield so the oil feed line could be used.

I don't have a picuture of mine installed, yet... but Mike's (FT) hard line is pre-bent, comes up behind the turbo and has a J bend at the top with a flared end that attaches to the threaded oil restrictor thats screwed into the CHRA. If completely hosed up the threads when trying to attach mine and will need order a replacement threaded oil restrictor.

A lot of guys also running the braided lines are running them to a turbo saver. HTH.

If you use a 120 Deg AN 4 fitting you can clear the sheild W/o cutting it ......you have to make your own line up , its tight with the water lines and oil line but the sheild fits with some massaging , this was done on a friends car by me so this is not " in Theory " You may have to reconfigure your original brass oil block or get the appropriate fitting ....and AN4/NPT is not it if you want to keep the stock brass block .
