I recently found a 69 Charger 500 sitting in a driveway. 440 4spd.
I was wondering what this car may be worth. It is in very rough shape but restorable. A lot of rust. Doesn't appear this car has been moved for many years but the owner does know what he has. I feel it can be bought but I'm not sure what it's worth.

I would appreicate any info on this car. I have checkedwebsites and have gotten differrent information on the number of these that were produced and the years the 500s were produced.

Thanks

Brett

I believe there were 392 made in 1969 and 86 of them were Hemi's and the remaing 306 were 440's.
I have a friend here locally that has a blue on blue 69 440/auto with air.
A really 69 is basically an RT model car as far as mechanical options. It will have the fiberglass plug/flush rear window AND the flush mounted 68 Coronet grille and head light assemblies.
Dodge made a 500 in 1970, but it became the mid model Charger and not the specialty model the 69 was. Many people mistake the 70 model 500 for it.
Are you sure the one you found is a 69 and not a 70?

I talked to the owner, he said he bought it when it was three years old. He said it was a 69, he should know after owning it this long. I looked the car over and it does have the flush rear window and the flat grill. The grill is what got my attention when I saw it in his driveway. It just didn't look like any Charger grill I had ever seen before. The bumper is srtaight across the bottom of the grill. I believe the 70 bumper surrounded the grill but I"m not sure as far as the 500"s are concerned. I was wondering what this car is worth in rough condition but basicly all origional.

Thanks

Brett

Brett, what color combo is it? And just how rough is it? I`ll ask my buddie as to what he thinks its worth. He should know,he has a #`s matching Hemi,4 speed 500,and he just sold his Hemi 500 auto about a month ago. Yeah.....it must be tough to own 2 rare Hemi cars,oh yeah,he also has a 68 Hemi RR

Oh yeah, it must be rough owning two, excuse me, three Hemi cars. Some of us will never own one. I'm sure the stress was just too much so he had to sell one.

This car is in primer so I can't tell the exterior color. Stripes are gone also. Interior is blue. It appears to be at least 90% complete but a lot of rust.
It's rusted through the rear quarters at the bottom on both sides, also around the rear window. Front fenders are rusted through at the bottoms as well as the rockers. Also some rust through the area around the tail lights. Hood has some small areas rusted through at the bottom of the scoops. Couldn't get a look at the floor pans.

It does appear to have the correct/matching number engine and trans. Interior is in bad shape but everything is there.

Thanks again

Brett

The 500 was a "temporary" fix for nascar until the daytona was ready. Pretty sure the Coronet nose treatmant was 69 only, for 70 and 71 it was pretty much just a trim package. The person you want to contact is Wayne Wooten of the dodge charger registry. If anybody could point you in the right direction it would be him. MOst of the sheetmetal is readily available and it's easier to repair a 69-70 than it is a 71 (found that out the hard way). Try a net search for "charger webring" and see what comes up and let us know what happens.

Brett, the vin should start with a "xx" in order for it to be a real 500.

I`ll give my buddie credit,he`s bought and sold more cars than I can remember, each car making some $$ on,thats how he has what he does now.Plus he makes a good income too. The 68 RR he has is rough, but its real

It does have the "XX" at the begining of the VIN but I didn't have anything to write the rest of the #s on. I'll be ready if I go back.

Brett,if you can,get some pics of it and email them to me,and I`ll forward them to my buddie. He will give you an honest opinion of what its worth
