700r4 into 86 chevy pickup?

My buddy wants to put a 700r4 in his 86 gm pickup.He can get agood deal on one but it has lockup convert.The ? is there any way to bypasss or even hookup the lockup to a truck without this option?Since i have no car friends anymore im asking the best car guys i know!

you can hook the lock up to a toggle switch and turn it on when cruising. also b+m makes a kit for that. depending on what trans is removed from truck. there will be some modifaction to install the 700r4----len
