My speedo suddenly quite working so I checked where the cable driven VSS is attached my trans and discovered that the driven gear is missing something--teeth. I obviously have to replace the gear and make sure that the gears are meshed correctly but I am concerend with where the plastic teeth and metal retainer are now since they are missing in action. This transmission has about 200 miles on it so I the thought of pulling back out makes me a little quezzy! Will this be a problem? Where would the missing pieces go? Thanks

into the pan so change the fluid and filter.make sure the gear is getting oil .if you suspect it isnt you can grind a notch in the governor feed land to allow oil to piss into the tail and onto the gears.this is common with a full manual 700r4 with no governor ,not usually with a governor shifted unit.
