'78 Monte Carlo w/ GN motor...anybody on the eastcoast come across one?

Pretty much what the title asks. Back in late 2002, I sold my '78 Monte Carlo to a friend of mine who was in the Marines. He took it back to North Carolina, where he was stationed at the time. He eventually got deployed to the Middle East, and a couple of years later he was discharged. The thing is, he didn't come back with the car. Aside from that car holding a lot of sentimental value (of which, made it very difficult to let it go), the car also had a transplanted, intercooled GN turbo motor, and a lot of other GN and custom goodies that I had put in the car over the years I had owned it. When I departed with the car, it was white with black painted trim. My cousin, who at the time owned an '87 GN, sold the motor to me. He and I did the swap, to include electronic setup from a donor GN. The car had a custom Autometer gauge setup, GN center console, light blue Monte Carlo bucket seats, B&M floor shifter, and dark blue dash, floor carpet, and panels. The exterior wasn't immaculate, but that's what made it a true sleeper.

Anyway, long story short, I am curious to know what ever happened to the car. Like I said, the last the car was seen, it was still in North Carolina. I'm not sure why my friend didn't come back with it, but from what he has told me, while he was out on deployment, the car was broken into, and several items were stolen. I don't know if the car made it to the scrap heap, or if someone came across it and picked up for a project car. If I had my way now...and the extra funds for that matter...I'd get that car back in a heartbeat. If anyone has any information on it, let me know. Unfortunately, I can't remember the VIN, nor do I have it written down somewhere.

Curious.

There is a baby blue 78ish monte with GN drivetrain that I saw at a show in ft lauderdale a month ago....it was very nicely done. It had all the trim polished so it may just be a coincidence...

Possibly. I found a light blue one on youtube awhile back that had a GN motor in it, as well as 22" rims. It looked more like a show car than anything else. Couldn't tell much else from the video.
