'79 & '80 sport coupe regals

How can I reduce the heat from the engine compartment? Should I change the rear end, tranny & add K&N air intake and filter to increse my toqure & performance. This is all new to me, mustang & Irocs were my muscle cars, know its the regals. I also have a '83 regal with a 454, 350 turbo tranny, and a 81 chevy rear end.
But I need help with my 79 & 80 regals should I sell & buy an 84 & up GN? confused:
