Versus the hot air blocks or a '86+ 109 block the '79 block will have: 14 bolt oil pan and matching timing cover, higher deck height, rough lifter valley, different bolts on the main caps.
This '79 block can be used in a EFI build, just note the differences above.
Ok, I didn’t realize the blocks were different between the 84-87 models. So basically using it as a direct replacement for an 84-87 is a no. How about for the 82/83 turbo cars? Would the 79 riviera be a direct replacement? Thanks!
