I bought a used reds 7th injector kit from someone off the board
and hooked it up as the directions say.but i dont think its working.
I set it to come on at 4500 and the shift light to come on at 5000
but the lights dont come on or nothing. The only ? on the directions was with the tps wire ,but i m almost positive the blue wire from the box gos to the blue (center wire on the tps sensor)

Has anyone had any problem with one?any advice?trobleshooting?
Thanks
Brian

Well, you're not going to want to hear this, and I suspect I'll get blasted for it.

But my advice on 7th injectors has never wavered, or changed since they first showed up on the market.

Right it up as a loss, and pitch it in the trash. Sorry to be so blunt. Do things right and get your 6 main injectors sized for what your goals are, and you wont have all the tuning headaches you're fixing to run into trying to get a 7th to work properly.

We've come a long way in the last 10 years, and 7th injector setups have been left in the dust, literally.

I couldn't agree with TurboDave more..I was using the ATR one for years until I dumped it. Never could get the thing dialed in..just a headache. Sell it if you can and move to bigger injectors.. 50's work well or bigger if you got $$$$

Yeah, the 7th injector was a good idea when you couldn't get bigger injectors to work in these cars. I know a guy that was running low 10s on 009s with a 7th and 8th injector, so you could get them to work, but he has since jumped up to bigger main injectors and dumped the 7th and 8th. Its really nothing more than a bandaid for a car that has injectors that are too small.

On the other hand..

I think the 7 injector set-up might be useful, if the car idled on the extra injector. A single 30 pound injector would supply enough fuel for idle and even for cruising. It would inject well up in the dog house, near the throttle body, so distribution of fuel would be the same as distribution of air, no lean cylinders. All fuel would be vaporized by the time it got to the cylinders, for best combustion. As soon as the engine got loaded enough to go below some magic vacuum set point, then there would be a transition to the direct port injectors, for better power. Would probably take a new ECM, along with the new injector plumbing, but still, I think it would work well.

I agree that it is far better to get bigger injectors and a chip.

But that is not the question, is it? I am going to give you the benefit of doubt that you have your reasons and try to help. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Red's unit. I have an ATR.

It appears to me from your post that the unit is tps and rpm activated and the shift light is a function of the 7th injector unit. Are you sure that you have the correct "tach" connection? There are two connectors near the alternator. One is the tach signal (green) and the other is the fuel pump relay override (gray).

Do you know the tps trigger point for the 7th? Are you sure that you are reaching it (ref:
TPS Adjustment )? Make sure tps readings are same using the pedal as when opening the throttle by hand (mat under gas pedal syndrome)!

Other that the obvious stuff like double checking everything and making sure that the electrical connections are good, I can't help much with info given. If you have more info (instructions) and can send it to me or post it, I will try to help.
