Yep, throwback. You can make much more refined power with a set of larger injectors and a chip to match, since the fuel is distributed equally among all cylinders. Adding that 7th injector, runs fuel through an intake designed for only air, and is subject to starving / over fueling certain cylinders based on the airflow of the intake.
Right up there with people that had to use volt boosters to compensate for the fuel pumps inadequacies. Nowadays, hotwire kits and high-flow pumps fixed that. Some still like the volt boosters, but its more related to computer/injector/spark concerns instead of fuel pump issues.....
