81 Sport Coupe GNX Clone question

I have located an 81 Sport Coupe that has been converted to 87 GN that looks like a GNX (Badging, vents and wheels). It currently has no engine or transmission so I have the option of going with an 86-87 as a bolt in or any other year with wiring change. What is my best bet? Is the 81 worth more as an original or with the 87 drivetrain with cheaper insurance?

Definately worth more with the 86/87 drivetrain. The 86/87 drivetrain will be worth more than a complete '81 Sport Coupe unfortunately.
